Discover Estonian nature
Escape the City
Estonia is a dreamland for nature lovers. This is the place where the land meets the sea, bogs are interspersed with virgin forest, fields and rivers and lakes. Estonia might easily be called the kingdom of bogs since approximately one quarter of the country is covered in marshes. From any point on Estonia’s mainland, the nearest marsh is al-ways less than 10 km away. Altogether, five national parks and hundreds of other preserves have been established to maintain nature’s unique value. Estonia is considered one of the world’s best bird-watching destinations due to its prime fly-way location.

Kadriorg, now one of the most green districts of central Tallinn, originated as a summer residence of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great and covered, besides the palace and the regular gardens, over 70 hectares of land.Kadriorg has changed a lot over its 300 years. New buildings have sprung up, new trees have been planted, new city blocks have risen and layers upon layers of history piled up. Despite all these changes, the magnificent palace and park with their eventful history remain the heart of Kadriorg and the wellspring of the district’s identity. Kadriorg Park is one of the most beautiful historic parks in the entire Northern Europe. Thanks to the natural characteristics of its location it contains features of Italian, French and Dutch Baroque parks.
